Use approval override safely
Understand when an owner or admin can override a gate and what should be checked first.
Expected outcome
Override is used only when appropriate and the action remains visible in the workflow history.
Steps
- 1Open the post that is blocked by approval.
- 2Review why the post is waiting.
- 3Confirm you have permission to override the gate.
- 4Use the override action only when the brand process allows it.
- 5Check the queue or proof record after the post moves forward.
Acceptance checklist
- Check: The person overriding has the correct role.
- Check: The content was reviewed even if the normal approval path was skipped.
- Check: The override action is recorded for accountability.
- Check: The post still passes destination validation.
Notes
- Overrides should be rare. Treat them as accountable exceptions, not a shortcut around review.
